West Ham are reportedly keeping tabs on Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet as a potential transfer option.

The Hammers are keen to add more bodies into their ranks before the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Cornet, 25, is facing an uncertain future at Turf Moor following the Clarets’ relegation to the Championship.

David Moyes’ side are ‘monitoring’ his situation at the moment and haven’t made a move yet, with the Frenchman recently seeing a switch to top flight new boys Nottingham Forest stall, as detailed in a report by the Daily Mail.

Cornet’s situation

As things stand, it is business as usual for Cornet at Burnley and he is part of Vincent Kompany’s side who are preparing for their first match of the new Championship campaign this weekend.

The former Metz and Lyon man joined the Lancashire club in August 2021 on a five-year deal so still has a decent amount of time left on his contract.

He made 26 league appearances last term and chipped in with a useful nine goals.

Would he suit West Ham?

Cornet would be a shrewd addition for West Ham if they end up making a swoop for him.

He proved in the last campaign that he is well capable of performing in the Premier League and he has adapted well to life in England since his switch from France.

The Hammers need more depth in their ranks, especially with European football on the horizon again, and he would be a useful option.

Other news

In other news, Everton defender Mason Holgate is the latest to be linked with a move to the London Stadium, as per 90min.
