West Ham edge closer to major update as talks take place with Liverpool target

West Ham United are edging closer to a major announcement which will hand them a huge boost in their hopes of securing European football this season.

The Hammers have started the season strongly with four wins from their opening seven games and they currently find themselves seventh in the Premier League table.

David Moyes and his team are determined to add to their trophy cabinet this season after their Europa Conference League triumph in June and they have made a positive start to their domestic and European campaigns with victories over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup and Backa Topola in the Europa League.

Much of West Ham’s good form this term can be attributed to starman Jarrod Bowen, who has scored a total of five goals from his opening seven games, whilst also contributing one assist.

Bowen has been an asset to West Ham since his arrival from Hull City in 2020 and his consistency over the last few seasons has prompted interest from Liverpool, who are drawing up contingency plans in preparation for a potential Mohamed Salah departure, according to reports.

Last month, Liverpool icon Steve McMannaman told Betfred that Bowen would be the “ideal fit” for Jurgen Klopp and his team’s style of play.

The winger is currently under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2025 and the Hammers are desperate to tie Bowen down to a long term deal to deter any bids from rival clubs.

Football Insider understands that West Ham are making strong progress with this task and the outlet reports that “talks are now underway about a new deal to keep him at the London Stadium.”

Bowen continues his Europa League campaign with West Ham by travelling to Freiburg and he follows that up with a home clash with Newcastle in the league.

The 26-year-old will undoubtedly see this as a chance to shine as he aims to make Gareth Southgate’s next England squad.
