West Ham ‘in talks’ over Rice replacement

West Ham have been working on identifying a replacement for Rice ever since talks became serious over his exit this summer. According to talkSPORT, one man on the radar is Fulham’s João Palhinha and the Irons are hoping a £40 million offer should be enought to swipe him from ther Premier League rivals.

However, reports from last month claimed Fulham were looking for as much as £90 million before considering selling the 28-year-old, which is a whopping £70 million than what they paid for him just last summer. The Liverpool Echo also recently reported that Palhinha is also on Liverpool’s radar as they prepare to potentially lose both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia this window.

‘Verbal offer’ made for Southampton star

Following their relegation, Southampton are prepared to lose a large chunk of their current squad as they seek moves back to top flight football. One highly sought-after player is James Ward-Prowse and West Ham have added him to their list for potential Rice replacements.

In their latest Transfer Confidential, the Daily Mail have reported that West Ham have made a ‘verbal offer’ for the Saints skipper. While nothing is concrete yet, they are keeping their options open and are also interested in Edson Alvarez (Ajax), Tyler Adams (Leeds United) and Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.
