Sami Mokbel provides Graham Potter update after West Ham beaten by Crystal Palace

The Hammers sit 18th in the Premier League at this early stage with four defeats in their opening five matches. There has been little uplift in form under the tenure of Potter, who took over from former manager Julen Lopetegui in January.

This week has seen several names linked with replacing Potter at the London Stadium and the latest update from BBC journalist Sami Mokbel confirms that the former Chelsea and Brighton boss’ time with the London outfit could be limited.

Graham Potter update at West Ham

He wrote: “West Ham head coach Graham Potter's position is under significant internal scrutiny with the club now considering managerial alternatives. Potter, 50, is under growing pressure to keep his job at the London Stadium following a disappointing start to the season that plunged to new depths following Saturday's home defeat by Crystal Palace.

“Multiple sources have told BBC Sport that even prior to Saturday's loss - their fourth from five Premier League games - the Hammers had started the process of identifying potential replacements for Potter. Nuno Espirito Santo, Slaven Bilic, and Gary O'Neil are among the options.”

West Ham were reported to have held talks with former Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo this week. The 51-year-old was only sacked by Forest earlier this month following a fall out with the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring for Crystal Palace after 37 minutes and the visitors went in ahead at half time. Jarrod Bowen pulled a goal back for the hosts but a 68th minute Tyrick Mitchell strike ensured that Oliver Glasner’s men maintained their unbeaten record this season.

Speaking after the match, Potter said: “We have to stick together, work hard and find a solution, it’s as simple as that. We are going through a tough time at the moment in terms of the results we are having but the only way out is to be together, work hard and find a solution.

“I don’t think it was effort [lacking]. The players gave everything and it was a good response from us, we pushed them back and got the equaliser. We’re well in the game and then the goal out of nothing sums up where we are at at the moment and it’s tough for us, we couldn’t respond as we’d like.”
