West Ham reportedly looked into late deals for Everton defender Michael Keane and Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge on deadline day. However, the Hammers ended up having a quiet end to the transfer window and stuck with the options they have at their disposal already.

As detailed in a report by The Athletic, David Moyes ‘explored’ a loan deal for Keane as a potential replacement for Craig Dawson. The latter left the London Stadium last month for fellow Premier League side Wolves.

West Ham also apparently considered a swoop for in-demand Berge, according to TV2. However, the Blades didn’t want to sell him and potentially derail their promotion push from the Championship.

Keane, 30, has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park and has made just three appearances in all competitions this season, one of which has come in the league. He worked under new Toffees boss Sean Dyche at Burnley though and could now be given a new lease of life on Merseyside ahead of the second-half of the campaign.

Berge was a wanted man earlier this week with Fulham and Newcastle United also believed to be keen on luring him to the top flight. He has helped the Blades rise to 2nd place in the second tier table this term and is staying at Bramall Lane until the summer at least now.

In other West Ham news, their former player Andre Ayew is close to a transfer back to England. Nottingham Forest are poised to land him, as per BBC Sport.
