West Ham expected starting XI vs Chelsea: Declan Rice in defence and Benrahma call made

David Moyes likely to put up a strong team out even in the face of a defensive crisis at the club

Chelsea and West ham meet at Stamford Bridge with both sides looking to return to winning ways after a difficult week where the Irons were held buy Burnley and the Blues lost to Arsenal.

For the Hammers this week could be pivotal with the Eintracht Frankfurt Europa League semi-final game on the horizon.

Chelsea are out of Europe despite a heroic performance in Madrid- they however have the crucial FA Cup final against Liverpool next month-so they will have to start picking up points and getting ready.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are third on the league table but have lost their last two home games and will be desperate to avoid a third straight home defeat that could damage their hold of third place in the league.

West Ham United are seventh on the league table but will still be injected with much needed energy for a top four finish if they can get a win today in enemy territory.

On the injury front-both teams have concerns but the Hammers have a real crisis at the heart of defence.

Issa Diop, Kurt Zouma and the long term absentee Angelo Ogbonna, will all not be involved today so there is a huge likelihood that key midfielder Declan Rice will be in defence to partner with Craig Dawson.

West Ham, unlike Chelsea, could still get into Champions League football via the Europa League but Chelsea, struggling on home turf, David Moyes will be looking to put his best team out and build up momentum ahead of Thursday night.

So with everything at stake, here is the team we expect Moyes to put out today.
