West Ham are seemingly close to making a decision on current head coach Julen Lopetegui.

The chips appearing to be falling for Julen Lopetegui, with his dismissal appearing to be imminent. The Spanish boss has struggled to achieve any sort of consistency with the Hammers since arriving in the summer, and West Ham are currently as low as 14th, closer to the bottom three than the European spots.

West Ham have lost back-to-back games, conceding nine goals across those two games alone, albeit they have faced Liverpool and Manchester City. The Hammers have won just once in their last five games, and even before that stretch, they won twice in six games.

The concerning thing for the Hammers is that Lopetegui was hired as a coach with a reputation of being defensively solid, and yet they have the fourth worst defence in the Premier League. Offensively, the Hammers are the seventh worst in terms of goals scored.

Lopetegui has a two-year contract with the option of a third year, but it appears the Spaniard may not even get to the second year of his deal. Speculation over his sacking has been rife, and now there has been a clear indication of a possible incoming decision.

Lopetegui was due to hold a press conference today, on Wednesday, ahead of Friday night’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa, but that has now been postponed, according to Matt Law. Not only that, but Lopetegui has cancelled a team bonding meal due to expecting the boot.

Naturally, West Ham would have to pay a settlement fee to Lopetegui to sack him, but fans have been calling for his head after what has been a season to forget for the Hammers. While the European spots are not totally out of the question, they have already given themselves a mountain to climb, currently 10 points off the top seven. All eyes are now on the Hammers as they seemingly prepare to make a decision.
