David Moyes is looking to bolster West Ham’s attack this month, with Michail Antonio currently the only recognised striker in his squad.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but have now reportedly submitted a bid for another striker.

According to Le 10 Sport’s Alexis Bernard, West Ham have made a first offer of £12 million for Clermont forward, Mohamed Bayo, however the French club are holding out for closer to €20 million (£16.6m).

The 23-year-old rose up through Clermont’s youth ranks and has shone for the Ligue 1 club.

He impressed in the French second division during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 22 goals in 38 appearances.

His form has continued since their promotion and he has nine league goals and two assists so far this season.

The Expresshave previously quoted Brereton Diaz as costing £25 million, while the Daily Mail claimed Calvert-Lewin could set West Ham back £60 million.

If David Moyes’ side succeed in their pursuit of Bayo - who The Athletic have likened to Luis Suarez - then they could be getting themselves a real bargain.

With Guinea’s elimination from AFCON earlier this week, negotiations for the striker may be a lot more straight forward in the final few days of the transfer window.
