Brazilian media has updated the potential future of West Ham youngster

Fresh reports out of the Brazilian media have added fuel to the fire surrounding the future of West Ham's defender Luizao. According to the Brazilian news outlet IG (via Sports Witness), it is suggested that while the player could be leaving the Hammers shortly, the East London side are not making it particularly easy.

David Moyes and his side do not want to loan out the 21-year-old, despite the rising interest from Brazil. Luiz Oliveria da Silva, known as Luizao, came to London in January 2023 as a free agent for an undisclosed fee, following a season with Sao Paulo's senior squad, and is yet to make his senior debut in the Premier League. Luizao's current contract runs until summer 2026.

He is currently playing in the U21 squad and West Ham wish for him to remain there in order "to get experience and understand English football". The Hammers reportedly set the starlet's price tag at £4.2 million (€5m) when negotiating with Ligue 1 side Monaco, but it would appear the French club were reluctant to meet West Ham's demands during January's transfer window.

Several Brazilian clubs have attempted to prize the defender away from London on loan, but there was never any success in negotiations for a temporary deal and the Hammers are supposedly so against a loan move that if the South American clubs don't pay for a permanent move now, he is set to stay this side of the pond until next summer.

The London Stadium side had little movement in the January transfer window, only welcoming Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the season as he bids to return to more frequent play. Said Benrahma, Conor Coventry and Thilo Kehrer were all sent out on loan while Pablo Fornals headed to La Liga's Real Betis for €8m.
