West Ham United and Crystal Palace are interested in a loan transfer for a PSG wonderkid in the January transfer window.

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a loan move for PSG starboy Hugo Ekitike in the January transfer window, as both London clubs look to strengthen their attacking ranks.

According to Standard Sport, Palace and the Hammers were linked with a move for him in the summer - Palace even held talks with the player, but a transfer ultimately failed to materialise. However, they are both looking to make a second attempt to bring him on board in the winter.

Given PSG's vast wealth of attacking talents, which includes the likes of Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos and Kylian Mbappe, his playing time has been limited to just a single appearance from the bench in Ligue 1. The Parisians seem keen for him to develop, but they do not have a place for him in the starting XI as things stand. Premier League rivals Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest ahead of the January transfer window.

What would Hugo Ekitike bring to West Ham or Crystal Palace?

Palace may bring Ekitike to Selhurst Park as a replacement for Jean-Phillipe Mateta, who could leave the club in January to join Eintracht Frankfurt. Palace are 'ready' to accept offers for the player, reports suggest. Meanwhile, West Ham are looking to bring a striker to the London Stadium - their main centre-forward, Michail Antonio, is out with a knee injury. Currently, they can only call upon the aging Danny Ings and 19-year-old Divin Mubama to fulfil the role of lone striker - neither of whom are particularly suitable for David Moyes' direct style of play.

At 6ft 2, Ekitike could provide the physical presence that West Ham are missing up top. His lack of first-team experience could prove to be an issue - but his clinical finishing could be a solid answer to the lack of goals being scored by their strikers in Antonio's absence.
