The Hammers are still in the market for a full-back after a busy summer of incomings.

West Ham could look to move for experienced Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier this summer in a curveball transfer as new manager Julen Lopetegui continues to overhaul his squad.

The Spaniard has taken over from David Moyes and has been busy in the market. The latest news from the London Stadium is that club captain Kurt Zouma is being shipped out to the UAE on a permanent deal with the Hammers green lighting a free transfer.

When it comes to incomings, West Ham are known to still be in the market for a right back. Ben Johnson left the London club as a free agent at the end of the campaign, since joining Ipswich Town, and Vladimir Coufal has just a final year left on his contract.

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka had emerged as an early transfer priority but that touted £15 million move has proved difficult with the 26-year-old supposedly considering running down his current Red Devils deal to leave for free in 12 months.

The Telegraph now claims that West Ham could turn their attention to Trippier. The England international also has a year left on his deal and could be cashed in on by the Magpies.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid man has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe was keen to play down those rumours when speaking to the media recently but did hint that the club could cash in on some first team players.

Speaking about the full-back, Howe said: "I see him as a huge part of the team and the squad going forward but there’ll always be – while we’re in the moment of financial fair play still affecting the club – there’ll always be the possibility that anyone could leave. So I won’t talk about individual players but naturally, with incomings there will be outgoings as well.

“What I mean by that, I don’t mean literally everyone has a “For Sale” sign on their head. We are still in a position where Financial Fair Play will affect our decision making. No, we want to keep our best players, and we will fight tooth and nail to do that.

"That doesn’t mean there won’t be outgoings of certain players, because there has to be from our side. I don’t think Kieran is openly looking to leave. He has been very good in training this week and came back with an ambition to fight for his place, like every player does when he comes back for pre-season, fully committed."

West Ham have already bolstered their defence by spending £40 million on Wolves defender Max Kilman this summer, the player being reunited with Lopetegui. Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville, Guido Rodriguez, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham have all also arrived at the club.
