A host of Premier League clubs had previously been credited with interest in the Leeds United defender.

Leeds United star Cody Drameh is set to sign for Championship rivals Hull City as a free agent this summer, 12 months after being hotly tipped to make a move to the Premier League with West Ham and Brentford linked with the defender.

The 21-year-old was firmly on the radar for David Moyes at the London Stadium last summer, with The Athletic confirming West Ham's interest in the Whites' man. The full-back was viewed as a potential successor to Vladimir Coufal with Ben Johnson's contract running out.

At that time, Brentford, Burnley and Luton Town were all also linked with the feeling that Drameh could have been a strong addition to a Premier League club.

Newcastle United were also said to be interested in the player at a time when the North East outfit was chasing down Champions League qualification. The Magpies eventually signed Harrison Ashby from the Hammers instead of pursuing the Leeds United youngster.

Drameh ended up spending last season on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship after no Premier League move came to fruition. The defender put in a strong campaign for the club but ultimately couldn't help avoid relegation to League One.

Drameh's contract at Elland Road expired this summer and was not extended as the defender became a free agent. Several Championship clubs had been credited with interest in the player, but it is Hull City who have triumphed.

Writing on social media platform X today, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said: "Hull City have won the race to sign Cody Drameh, after coming to an agreement with Leeds United and the player. They have beaten several clubs in the Championship and more European sides. Medical today, as @bazdjcooper reports."

Speaking about the player last season, former Birmingham City boss John Eustace heralded the loanee. He said: “He has been top. There is a lot of pressure on Cody coming in from a big club. He hasn’t had many games before coming to the group.

"I think you can see every time he plays his performances are getting better and better. He is a top performer and we are fortunate to have him here.”
