West Ham United have a couple of injury scares ahead of their League Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool on Wednesday.

West Ham United have had a mediocre season in the Premier League so far - but they’ll have an excellent opportunity to bring home some silverware if they can get past Liverpool in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday evening.

Neither team has a clean bill of health ahead of the encounter, but West Ham have far fewer injuries than their Merseyside opponents. As things stand, the Hammers have just one injured player, while Liverpool have seven - most of which have no chance of playing midweek.

Liverpool are currently 2nd in the Premier League table after their 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, while West Ham find themselves in 8th position. Will the injuries suffered by Liverpool bridge the gap between the two teams?

West Ham United injury news

As mentioned, West Ham have just one player who is injured ahead of their game against Liverpool - Michail Antonio. Edson Alvarez has also recently spent a spell on the sidelines, but he made his return in the 3-0 victory against Wolves at the weekend, playing 70 minutes before being withdrawn for Pablo Fornals.

Antonio will definitely miss out on the game against Liverpool. However, his return isn’t too far away - he could be back in action before the turn of the new year.

Liverpool injury news

Liverpool’s injury situation is currently much more dire than West Ham’s. The Reds have seven players who are likely to be unavailable for the quarter-final game against the Irons - Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Matip, Thiago, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Diogo Jota and Stefan Bajcetic are all expected to miss out on Wednesday’s game.

Of the seven injured players, Mac Allister is the most likely to feature, but the probability is that the game will come too soon for the Argentinian international.
