Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has described West Ham United star Kurt Zouma as ‘outstanding’ following his impressive display in Friday night’s win at Luton Town.

Amid an intense atmosphere, West Ham saw off some pressure and edged themselves in front when Jarrod Bowen netted eight minutes before half-time.
A second goal did not arrive until Zouma powered a header beyond hosts keeper Thomas Kaminski with five minutes remaining and then helped his side preserve their lead despite Mads Andersen giving Luton some hope of mounting a comeback when he halved the deficit in injury-time.
The win takes West Ham to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Saturday’s fixtures and former England defender Carragher believes it is in no small part down to Zouma’s impressive display.

“He was so dominant, especially defensively, that was his big job tonight. I mentioned before the game that he had a huge role to play if West Ham are going to get the three points and I thought him and Aguerd dealt really well with the direct play. The crosses were slightly different, that’s where they were caused a few more problems but when it was always down their throat, they dealt with it really well. It was a big performance, he’s captain, and he got the goal that sealed it.”
The Hammers will return to action following the international break when Premier League champions Manchester City visit the London Stadium in two weeks.
