Do you remember these famous West Ham European moments ahead of Sevilla clash?

Do you remember when Bobby Moore lifted the Cup Winners Cup or the famous Ghost Match against Castilla?

David Moyes’ West Ham team will be looking to write themselves into the club’s history when they take on Sevilla tonight.

If the Irons can make it through it will be their biggest success in Europe since 1981, when they went out in the Cup Winners Cup quarter finals to Dinamo Tbilisi.

In the first round of that competition, there was the mysterious “Ghost Match” against Castilla, Real Madrid’s second team.

Violence broke out at the Bernabeu in the first leg, and one West Ham fan was killed.

The Hammers initially were ordered to play the return leg at least 190 miles from Upton Park, before an appeal meant they could play at home behind closed doors.

Five years earlier, Trevor Brooking scored two goals against Eintracht Frankfurt to fire West Ham into the Cup Winners Cup final.

However the Irons lost 4-2 to Anderlecht at the infamous Heysel Stadium in Brussels.

West Ham’s only European trophy was the Cup Winners Cup in 1965, with the iconic side which included Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst.

Dubbed “West Ham’s greatest moment”, the claret and blues beat 1860 Munich 2-0 at Wembley in front of 100,000 spectators.

Alan Sealey scored twice in the three minutes to bring the trophy back to east London.

To get you up for the game Hammers fans, we bring you 16 famous West Ham European moments.
