The Hammers were on the verge of completing a deal for the Bayern Munich man but have not finalised an agreement.

Manchester United are expected to make a transfer swoop for Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui amid reports that a move to West Ham has collapsed at the final hurdle.

On Thursday, transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg reported that the Hammers had agreed personal terms with the player as Julen Lopetegui looks to add depth in the right-back position. Ben Johnson has left the club as a free agent this summer, and since joined Ipswich Town, while Vladimir Coufal has just 12 months left on his contract.

The reporter added that the transfer had not been completed yet with West Ham still to finalise terms with Bayern Munich. Those financial details now seem to have scuppered the move.

Manchester United have also been linked with the player and The Express reports that the Red Devils could look to capitalise on West Ham misfortune. The outlet reports that Erik ten Hag's side are now in 'advanced talks' with Bayern Munich and are 'pushing' to sign the Morocco international.

Mazraoui is a graduate of the Ajax youth academy and spent four years working under Ten Hag in Amsterdam before joining Bayern Munich in 2022. Ten Hag has already brought former Ajax men Lisandro Martinez and Antony to the club since his tenure began.

A fee of between £16 million and £20 million had been touted for the move to the London Stadium, with a similar figure put on a potential move to Old Trafford. The news comes as a suckerpunch to West Ham, who have this week been rejected by target Aaron Wan-Bissaka too.

The Hammers had been linked with a £15 million move for the Manchester United man, with the club willing to sell, but talkSPORT reports that the player would prefer a move to Inter Milan.

Wan-Bissaka has just 12 months left on his contract and is said to be carefully considering his options. The player is aware that leaving as a free agent next summer could lead to more lucrative contract offers given that a transfer fee would not have to be paid to Manchester United.
