West Ham vs Brentford injury news: 8 players out with 4 doubts for Premier League clash
West Ham could be without up to six players and Brentford could also be without six players.
West Ham welcome Brentford to the London Stadium this weekend as they look to get back to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in their last match.
The Hammers sit 16th in the Premier League table but have a comfortable 10-point gap to the relegation zone. However, a couple more poor results and Graham Potter’s side could be looking over their shoulders.
Brentford also lost their last game 2-0 to Tottenham despite dominating for large parts of the match. They sit 11th in the Premier League table, on 31 points after 24 games. Both teams could be without up to six players which could be problematic when Thomas Frank and Graham Potter pick their starting XIs ahead of kick-off at 3 pm tomorrow.
Brentford injury news
Brentford will have five players who have already been ruled out of the game on Saturday. Firstly, Gustavo Gomes continues to recover from a lower back injury from the summer. He was back on grass in January, but isn’t close to returning to first team training yet.
Furthermore, Igor Rodrigues is also recovering from a major injury that he suffered in the summer. He has a joint infection in his knee, and is still expected to be out for several more weeks. Aaron Hickey continues to recover from his surgery on his hamstring in the summer. He is working to recover to his previous levels of health.
Josh DaSilva is also out for Saturday’s game, but he is closer to returning from his knee injury. Rico Henry is out too, much like DaSilva, the pair are looking at a return from injury early in April. Finally, Mark Flekken is a doubt for the game on Saturday, as he is recovering from a chest injury which he suffered last month.
Frank said at the start of February: “Mark picked up a side strain two days ago. Let's see. We have two weeks until the next game. Hopefully, he'll be back for West Ham.”
It is unclear yet as to whether Flekken will be ready for the game.
West Ham injury news
The Hammers also have six potential absentees, the first being striker Niclas Fullkrug who continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Michail Anotonio is also still out as he recovers after being involved in a car collision in January.
Winger Crysencio Summerville has been ruled out for the Brentford game too, as he is recovering from a hamstring injury. Potter said: “Summerville has had a setback, so we're looking after the international break for him. He just felt something, which is disappointing.”
However, it does look as though Lucas Paqueta is set to return from a groin issue. Edson Alvarez is also likely to return from a knock that he picked up. Potter said: “We've had some positive news in that Paqueta and Alvarez have trained and should be available.”
Finally, Jean-Clair Todibo is also doubtful, but Potter said earlier this week that it looks likely that Todibo will at least make the squad. He may not be fit enough to start, however.
