Transfer West Ham fans are desperate for could be an impossible dream despite boost

West Ham may be forced to miss out on a player who wants to be at the club next season.

West Ham have been given a boost in what will likely be a summer bid to keep one of their key stars, but it might not matter.

The Iron now have a very different feel about them after rallying back to from the brink to just goal difference from safety in recent weeks. New January signings have helped propel West Ham to a momentum not seen in the last season and a half.

The last of the new signings in January was Chelsea star Axel Disasi, who signed on a loan deal for the rest of the season. Despite having not played all season due to being frozen out at Stamford Bridge, Disasi has had a big impact at the London Stadium

The centre-back is already a key part of Santo’s back line, and West Ham fans are already dreaming of a stay for the defender. Naturally, West Ham must stay up to have any chance of signing the once £38million Chelsea signing.

ExWHUEmployee has reported that Disasi would be very interested in a stay at West Ham should they survive this season, but there could be a major roadblock to the deal.

West Ham reportedly owe £196 million in transfer fees to other clubs, and they find themselves in a tricky financial situation. Chelsea are likely to demand at least £26million for Disasi this summer, given that was the minimum asking price last summer.

And since then, Liam Rosenior has come in, has been far more reasonable to the defender, and has now seen him have a successful spell in the Premier League.

None of that points to a cheaper sale this summer, and even if West Ham do stay up, they could be relying on Chelsea agreeing some sort of loan deal to bring Disasi back.

The centre-back attracted attention from throughout Europe last summer and even held talks with Villarreal, who could return with interest given they are headed for another Champions League campaign next season.

Unless West Ham can clean up their finances, the dream of signing Disasi permanently could be out of reach.
