There is little more than a week left for Championship clubs to finalise deals in the January transfer window and ensure squads are ready for the latter part of the season.

The race for the play-offs is on for London outfit Watford while rivals QPR look to mount a serious push for survival after a tricky start to the campaign.

Both the Hornets and Rs feature in Tuesday's Championship transfer round-up.

Watford on verge of completing unexpected talisman reunion

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has delivered some blockbuster news for Watford fans with the Championship club on the verge of completing a head-turning reunion with striker Emmanuel Dennis this month.

The 26-year-old is expected to complete a medical with the London club on Tuesday ahead of a loan deal until the end of the season. Dennis is expected to take a huge 70% wage cut to make the move happen and help the Hornets push for a play-off spot this season.

Valérien Ismaël's side are just three points off the top six and are eyeing up a strong back end of the season to be in with the chance of returning to the Premier League. Dennis joined Nottingham Forest from Watford following the club's relegation in 2022 and has spent the first part of this season on loan at Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

During his one season at Vicarage Road, Dennis grabbed 10 goals and six assists in all competitions and was one of the side's stand-out players in that campaign.

Portsmouth deal QPR transfer blow

League One club Portsmouth have dealt QPR a transfer blow by completing a loan deal for rising Brentford star Myles Peart-Harris. The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to the Championship strugglers but has instead elected for high-flying Pompey in the third division.

The Rs are looking to add reinforcements this month despite financial pressures to help boost Marti Cifuentes' fight for survival. However, they will have to let hopes of signing the Brentford man go with a blow that comes days after the club allowed midfielder Andre Dozzell to leave to rivals Birmingham City.

Dozzell hadn't flourished at Loftus Road but was a regular in the side, which led to some fans questioning the decision to sanction his departure on loan without having sorted a deal for a replacement, such as Peart-Harris.

Cifuentes said: “He felt it was a good opportunity for him. We say thanks for his efforts and wish him all the best. There is no player in the world that moves to another club without wanting it. Perhaps he felt that it was a good step for him. He had exceptional behaviour since I came here, and I just want to wish him good luck because he is a very good boy."
