Tottenham willing to make ex-Arsenal transfer move as Thomas Frank give go-ahead

Tottenham are said to be interested in a move for a Premier League free agent.

Tottenham are now said to be interested in a free agent signing as they look to bolster their attack during this window. Thomas Frank is expected to be handed at least a couple of new players before next week’s deadline, with injuries and poor form forcing Spurs into the market.

Spurs have lost a host of players to injury, including attackers Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus, and they were already struggling to outscore teams, finding themselves as low as 14th in the Premier League.

Their Champions League form has been much better, finishing in the top eight with a win on Wednesday night, but league form is of paramount importance, and Frank is going to need to turn things around if he wants to keep his job beyond this season.

New signings will help the Dane, and we have already seen plenty of clubs linked with a move. The latest is available for free, with former Arsenal loanee Raheem Sterling having agreed to end his contract with Chelsea.

Sterling was exiled from the first team by Enzo Maresca and sent to train with the kids, to to speak, following a disappointing loan spell with Arsenal.

According to Teamtalk, Tottenham are now interested in offering Sterling a contract, and Frank is said to be ‘on board’ with the idea. It comes after a report claiming that Sterling’s agent is largely talking to Champions League clubs and clubs competing in Europe as he looks to find a deal for Sterling this month.

It would be a gamble for Tottenham given how Sterling failed to make an impact in a very good Arsenal side last season. It has been well over a year since Sterling has played consistently good football, and he would likely arrive below the level of match fitness required to hit the ground running having not played since last season.

Then again, Spurs may feel that, wages aside, it would be a worthwhile gamble given the lack of transfer fee.
