'Don't look good' - Ian Wright worried about Igor Tudor moment he spotted during Tottenham vs Arsenal

Ian Wright has been speaking about Igor Tudor’s tough start at Tottenham after a defeat to Arsenal.

Ian Wright is concerned with what he saw during Tottenham’s heavy defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby last weekend. New Spurs interim boss Igor Tudor will have been dreaming of a big start in the derby, but it was anything but.

Tottenham competed well in the first half, going in at the break on level terms, but they were comfortably beaten in the second half and ended up losing 4-1.

That result, and indeed results elsewhere, meant Tottenham fell to within four points of the bottom three. That has only heightened concerns that Tottenham could yet be relegated despite having an obvious advantage over West Ham and Nottingham Forest below them when it comes to squad strength.

Injuries have made things difficult, but Tudor still has a strong squad to call upon, at least in the context of a relegation battle. But leadership could be an issue under Tudor, according to Wright, who said on The Overlap: “Against Arsenal I saw Igor Tudor trying to speak to Van de Ven and he blanked him, totally blanked him. That says to me they’ve checked out already.

“He’s blanked him! This guy’s new, he wants him to come up, looking at Van de Ven and he just stayed there. That don’t look good!”

Keane disagrees with Wright take

While Wright believes he spotted something concerning, Roy Keane actually brushed off the potential issue during the same episode. He responded: “It was a tough start for him, Arsenal. I still think they’ll be ok, but I’m not falling for this one, ‘they’re too good to go down,’ no. But the games they’ve got coming up, I think they’ll find a bit more than Forest and West Ham.

“West Ham have got a little bit of momentum going and big game coming up this weekend, Forest was a killer blow, last minute [defeat] to Liverpool. These are all little momentum-turners, they can change week-to-week. I still think Tottenham will have enough to stay up.”

Tottenham now play Fulham, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, and those four games could define whether they go into the final stretch in a relegation battle or looking upwards having pulled away from it.
