Tottenham working on record-breaking move for Premier League star who is 'desperate to join'
Tottenham Hotspur are finally edging closer to the striker fans have been eagerly waiting for them to sign to replace Harry Kane. The club’s all-time top scorer left last summer in a record-breaking move to Bayern Munich, and he wasted no time recording 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions in his debut season.
Spurs have now made it their priority to bring in natural goalscoring No.9 ahead of the new season. Some of their Premier League rivals have had a similar idea to bolster their threat in attack but the north Londoners are now close to signing top target Dominic Solanke.

Talks between the Cherries and Tottenham are ‘ongoing’ to finalise a deal for the 26-year-old before the transfer window closes.
Sky Sports have reported that the parties are now in ‘advanced talks’ over finalising a summer move. It has also been reported that Solanke has agreed personal terms with Ange Postecoglou’s side as he is ‘desperate for a move’ to the north London club. The Athletic revealed back in June that Solanke’s contract, which runs until 2029, has a £65 million release clause in place. This can be triggered ‘by certain clubs’ and will mark a record sale for Bournemouth once finalised.
Postecoglou discussed his side’s need for a natural goalscorer during a pre-season press conference, stressing the importance of what ‘type of striker’ Spurs bring to the club.
“You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it’s going be a striker that fits that mould. It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us.”

Hide AdDespite these links to Solanke and a deal looking like it is creeping ever closer to the finish line, the future is less clear for Richarlison. Tottenham signed the Brazilian from Everton in 2022 for £60 million. Despite some crucial performances from him, Richarlison has struggled to become a mainstay within the team. Many assumed with the signings of Brennan Johnson, Archie Gray and now potentially Solanke, the 27-year-old would be elbowed out further.
However, Richarlison recently told ESPN Brazil that he is committed to staying in the Premier League, despite receiving a hefty cash offer from a Saudi Arabian club.
“There has been an offer but my dream of playing for the Brazilian Selecao and in the Premier League speaks louder. The money is big but my dreams are bigger.”
Solanke netted 19 goals in the Premier League for Bournemouth last season, finishing as the joint-fourth highest goalscorer for the season alongside Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.
