Tottenham player ratings vs Wolves: Three 5/10 and a 'disappointing' 4/10 for £40m star in defeat

Tottenham player ratings from their disappointing Premier League defeat to Wolves.

Tottenham slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Wolves at home in the Premier League and have now dropped to fifth on the league table after Aston Villa won at Fulham.

For the second week running Tottenham gave themselves more work to do in the Premier League, paying for a sluggish start to the game that saw visiting Wolves deservedly take the lead. Joao Gomes heading home the opener to give Gary O'Neil's side the lead they had been threatening.

That seemed to be the wake-up call the Lilywhites needed, their passing and competitive intensity instantly improved after going down, but they did not get back level until the 46th minute, Swedish forward Dejan Kulusevski dancing through a sea of Wolves players before poking in the equaliser.

Jose Sa in post for Wolves would not want to watch Match of the Day tonight, as the ball rolled through his legs. Spurs took control of the midfield from there and were dominating possession, but as has been their Achilles heel all season, Gomes finished off a brilliant layoff from Pedro Neto after a brilliant counter-attacking move from the visitors to silence the home crowd. 2-1, advantage Wolves with a little over 27 minutes to go.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou rang the changes to try and get a reaction from his team, Rodrigo Bentancur, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner were all thrown in to turn the game around.

But despite throwing the kitchen sink at Wolves, they held on for a memorable win. Here is how we rated the Spurs players out there today.
