Tottenham return to action on Sunday when they take on Newcastle United in their bid to snap out of a disappointing run of form. Spurs were defeated by West Ham during the week, making it five games without a win for Ange Postecoglou's men.

Injuries have played a huge role in Tottenham's slide down the table, with the North London club slipping from top spot down to fifth, and they are now no less than nine points behind leaders and rivals Arsenal. Newcastle will be a big test for injury-rocked Spurs on Sunday, and the Tyneside club also need to bounce back after losing 3-0 to strugglers Everton during the week.

Though, like Spurs, Newcastle also have a big injury list, not likely to get any of their absentees back ahead of this one, and Tottenham are in a similar position with the exception of one player. On the injury front, Tottenham stars Ivan Perisic and Alfie Whiteman are out with long-term injuries, while Rodrigo Bentancur will be out until the new year with an ankle issue. Micky van der Ven will remain absent until mid-January, while the same can be said of James Maddison, Ryan Sessegnon, and Manor Solomon.

Eric Dier will be out for a couple of weeks, but there is hope for Son Heung-min, with Postecoglou saying: "Yeah, we'll see how Sonny is. He was a bit sore after the game - we'll wait and see what the outcome is in terms of Sunday."

Newcastle also have a host of injury issues, with Sandro Tonali suspended, while Nick Pope is a recent blow after dislocating his shoulder last weekend. Jacob Murphy and Dan Burn are out until the new year, while Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson, Sean Longstaff, Sven Botman, Joe Willock, and Harvey Barnes are hoping to return this side of the new year. Jamaal Lascelles could return from a dead leg, while Javier Manquillo and Matt Targett are out long-term.
