Tottenham are hopeful of having both James Maddison and Brennan Johnson fit and ready for the weekend’s Premier League game against Liverpool.

Both started the game against Arsenal and contributed to what was the best performance at the Emirates in recent times with grit and a show of character that saw the Lilywhites come from behind twice to earn a point.

However, Johnson had to be replaced because of fears that he had picked up a massive injury while James Maddison had not trained for a couple of days due to an unspecified knee injury.

But reports on Football. London says Johsnon’s injury was just that of an issue of a tight hamstring while Maddison’s supposed knee problem won't keep him out.

Tottenham have had a massive start to the league season, their best in almost 50 years and remain unbeaten after six games having played their sworn rivals and beaten Manchester United in a lifting game in north London.

There is a general feel-good factor and for once fans are happy with the choice of chairman Daniel Levy who said he was under pressure to appoint a high-profile name but fought that to appoint the easily likeable Ange Postecoglou for the role.

Levy said: “Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play.

“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

The appointment has proven to be a masterstroke with Spurs now looking to go unbeaten in their first seven games to a top-flight season only for the third time in history.
