Tottenham vs Chelsea injury update as nine players ruled out and three doubts including Destiny Udogie latest

Chelsea have as many as five players missing for this game with Spurs having also a similar number going into it.

Chelsea will go to north London this evening looking for only their fourth league win of the season but the talking point ahead of the game is undoubtedly the return of Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching team.

Pochettino enjoyed five brilliant years in north London which culminated in them reaching the final of the Champions League in 2019 but he’s since moved on to manage PSG before returning to London to look after Chelsea.

This game provides him with an opportunity to remind Spurs fans how good he was for them but he’s confirmed there are a few injury issues in his team.

The Chelsea manager said in his press conference on players that were available and those that were completely ruled out of the game.

He said: “I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see first of all if he’s available. Then if my decision is to play with him or not. Yes, I think it was good for him to start a game after a few months. For the team, because he’s our captain, he’s a significant player. Now we need to assess him to see if he’s ready to start on Monday.”

Chelsea have as many as five players ultimately ruled out as well as Tottenham who have to ensure flying left-back Destiny Udogie is ready for the game having missed the difficult win against Crystal Palace.

Below we provide the number of injured players that both teams have going into one of the games of the season.
