Tottenham now 'very close' to agreeing 'game-changing' transfer involving 'world-class' player
Tottenham are said to be closing in on a blockbuster transfer that could take them to the next level.
Tottenham are now said to be ‘very close’ to completing a game-changing transfer. Spurs have enjoyed a solid start to the still very young season, pushing PSG all the way in the UEFA Super Cup and then defeating Burnley comfortably in their Premier League opener.

Thomas Frank knows there is work to do, but he also knows he will be handed more new weapons before the summer transfer window, with the Tottenham chiefs well aware that more depth and quality will be required ahead amid a Premier League and Champions League campaign.
Ahead of the season, Tottenham were dealt a mammoth injury blow when James Maddison was ruled out for much of the season with an ACL rupture. That has left a giant hole in the Spurs number 10 role, especially after the Morgan Gibbs-White deal fell apart, but things may just have turned out for the best.
That’s because Tottenham are now said to be closing in on a deal to sign Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze. Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian has reported on X: “Eberechi Eze to Tottenham now very close to being agreed. Such a good signing #thfc.”
Eze has been heavily linked with a departure from Palace over the summer, and even after his £68million release clause lapsed, it was expected that he would depart at some stage. Arsenal were also linked, but Tottenham have now closed in on a deal, and it should come as no surprise after Eze stayed behind on his own at Stamford Bridge over the weekend to clap the Palace fans. Eze looked emotional as he took plenty of extra time, seemingly saying goodbye to the Eagles faithful.
Tottenham are expected to pay £60million to sign Eze, which is £8million less than the release clause. Though, Palace have often done right by players who are ready to take the next step providing they can get close to what they want for a player.
Pundits on Eze
Jamie Redknapp spoke on Sky Sports last week and admitted his surprise that Eze hadn’t moved yet. Asked about Tottenham links, he said: “You’ve lost James Maddison so when they played against PSG, there were predominantly three defensive midfield players. They need someone that’s going to be able to unlock the door. If they were to get maybe Eze, I think he’d be magnificent.
“I’m still amazed that he’s not left Crystal Palace and someone hasn’t paid up. Whether it’s Arsenal, whether it’s Tottenham. He is a world-class player. He’s so talented. I’m amazed that nobody has gone and spent the money on him. They wouldn’t regret it because he’s got that lovely confidence when he plays. He’s one of the best players to watch and I think he could play for any side in the world.”
Eze will slot in seamlessly to the number 10 role at Tottenham, while in cases Frank wants to go with a more defensive approach, the England international can also play in the winger role.
