Tottenham starting XI for new season if transfer rumours prove true, including 4 new starters
A look at the possible Tottenham starting XI to start the new season based on transfer rumours.
Tottenham are already underway as far as their pre-season schedule is concerned, and their summer schedule will only get busier from here, taking on Luton Town on Saturday before jetting off to Asia for their summer tour.

Thomas Frank has already been handed a big-money signing, and more incomings are very likely before the season. With that in mind, we have put together a possible Tottenham starting XI for the new season based on rumours.
GK - Vicario
Vicario is Tottenham’s number one, but Spurs do now have better cover in Kinsky. There is little doubting who the starting keeper will be for the new season.
LB - Destiny Udogie
Udogie will battle Djed Spence for the starting spot on the left, and both should see plenty of action. Full-backs should thrive under Thomas Frank, and while Udogie is the likely starter, this will be an interesting battle.
CB - Cristian Romero
Romero has been linked with an exit amid reported interest from Spain, but Frank has said the Argentine is ‘very committed’ to the cause, and it seems a stay is expected. Spurs may strengthen here, but when fit, their starting centre-back line-up is not expected to change.
CB - Micky van de Ven
Van de Ven is the other starter at centre-back, though he will be desperate to have better luck with injuries in the coming season, like many Spurs players.
RB - Pedro Porro
Pedro Porro is the starter on the right, and Tottenham do need better competition for the Spaniard. Spence can play there, but better depth is required on the right.
CDM - Joao Gomes
Tottenham need a new holding midfielder who can start ahead of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma. Wolves star Joao Gomes has been linked with a move, able to play as a n out and out midfielder and as a holding midfielder. Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha is another potential option. Spurs are likely to be shopping in this position.
CM - James Maddison
Maddison’s position is likely safe, and Frank is likely to enjoy working with the creative midfielder. Frank likes attacking football, and Maddison does a great job of enabling such football.
CM - Morgan Gibbs-White
Tottenham’s bid to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest has been complicated, but they are still determined to pull off a £60million move. If Morgan-Gibbs does arrive, he will surely become an instant starter.
RW - Mohammed Kudus
Kudus has already arrived, and he is a likely starter, with Dejan Kulusevski having struggled to deliver consistently last term. Though, it’s likely there will be an interesting battle for starting spots out wide this season.
LW - Yoane Wissa
Brentford’s Yoane Wissa has been linked with a Frank reunion, and while he prefers to play a striker, he can quite comfortably play out wide, where he would likely see the most opportunities at Spurs. Heung-min Son will also battle for a spot, though he has been linked with an exit, while Mathys Tel and Brennan Johnson are also likely to see plenty of action.
CF - Dominic Solanke
Solanke’s spot looks to be safe for now, with any Tottenham striker signing likely to be a supplementary one, while Richarlison has been linked with an exit. Johnson and Son could also get game time here.
