The 30-year-old has looked desperate sometimes in attempt to try and register his first goal, he was quite unlucky against Fulham over the weekend when his goal bound effort came off the post.

Against Marseille, it was his run that got Chancel Mbemba sent off and turned the game on it’s head before striker Richarlison scored twice to earn the victory.

The win keeps Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season going as they travel to champions Manchester City on Saturday.

Asked if he was concerned that after scoring 23 goals to win the Golden Boot last season, he seems to have lost his way in-front of goal recently.

He told reporters it wasn’t something that was keeping him awake at night because he has the support of his colleagues and it was just a matter of time before he was back amongst the goals: “If I don’t get chances in the game I’d be worried but I still get the chances and in some games I’m a little bit unlucky.

“Some games my finishing is bad but this is making me stronger and forcing me to improve because I think I still have a lot of space for improvement as a team and as an individual.

“The most important thing is that we are doing well as a team. Obviously some games are really frustrating about some of the chances and if the ball doesn’t go in it makes me just laugh sometimes.

“I’m not not worried about it because the team, the staff and everyone is helping me so I just have to focus on my game and improve.”
