Tottenham are closing in on the double signing of Micky van de Ven and forward Alejo Veliz.

Tottenham have booked medicals for  Micky van de Ven and forward Alejo Veliz as they look to add quality and depth to their team ahead of their Premier League opener against Brentford.

The Lilywhites beat Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 at home over the weekend and will travel to Barcelona for their final pre-season game before they take on Brentford this weekend.

Throughout the summer transfer window, the Lilywhites have been dealing with the prospects of Bayern Munich who bid £86million for the striker but Spurs have knocked down the offer insisting the striker is still not for sale.

Netherlands Under-21 centre-half Van de Ven was at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday as Tottenham impressed in what was manager Ange Postecoglou’s first home game. He is expected to come in and add a ball-playing ability and quality to Ange Postecogliou’s team.

The young defender is now expected to seal £43million  as well as young Argentine forward Alejo Veliz also coming in to seal his move after Spurs agreed to a £13m deal with Rosario Central. The 19-year-old striker is however likely to move back to Argentina for the second half of the season before returning to Tottenham in winter.

Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed he was looking forward to adding some depth to his squad after the win over Shakhtar Donetsk yesterday: “There’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that area. We’re looking for players that can play the kind of football we want. Hopefully, we’ll get one or two done in the next couple of days to bolster us in that area.”

In other news, Tottenham have maintained striker Harry Kane despite having just one year left on his current deal and Bayern biding a stunning €100million for him.
