Tottenham set for Premier League rival in bid to land 19-goal striker with £41.2m price tag
Tottenham face a new rival in their reported bid to land a striker this summer.
Tottenham could have a new rival in their reported bid to land a striker from the continent this summer. Spurs will be in the market for players who can help them improve this summer, with Ange Postecoglou needing more quality and depth in a number of key areas.

It has been a forgettable season for the North London club, who are still in the bottom half despite improving a little of late, albeit their momentum was dealt a setback by Manchester City over the weekend.
Ange Postecoglou needs to prove himself between now and the end of the season, and he will be aided by returning players from injury. The Europa League is the only remaining avenue to silverware and European qualification for Spurs, so performance in that competition may be the main point of judgement for the Spurs hierarchy.
Whoever is in charge this summer, significant improvements are required in the Spurs squad, and it seems a forward will be close to the top of the list of priorities. Dominic Solanke was signed on big money last season, and his injury troubles have provided a reminder for the need for an alternative when it comes to a leading striker with presence, and the front line will be weakened in terms of numbers if Spurs decide to pass up their option to buy Timo Werner as expected.
One player who continues to be linked is FC Porto frontman Samu Aghehowa, also known as Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old joined FC Porto from Atletico Madrid on a fee worth £12.3million in the summer, and he has since scored 19 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions, including six goals in nine Europa League games, impressing from the off.
Spurs have been linked with a move for the forward this summer, but CaughtOffside say Newcastle United are considering the Spaniard as a replacement for Alexander Isak if the Sweden international is signed on a big-money deal this summer. Isak would likely command a fee of £100million or beyond given his clear talent, and it would put pressure on Newcastle to get their replacement right, given how important Isak is to Eddie Howe’s success.
It’s not clear how much Porto would ask for just 12 months after signing the young striker, but Fichajes claim Premier League clubs would likely need to bid in the range of 50million euros, which currently works out as £41.2million.
