Hugo Lloris-6

Made a brilliant save late on in the first half to deny Guendouzi. Didn’t have much to do in the second half as Marseille went a man down and Tottenham pinned them down in search of goals.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg-8

One of the stand out performers again for Spurs. Covered every blade of grass on the pitch and showed little signs of fatigue or playing games. He is the perfect Antonio Conte player and is getting better by the day.

Heung-Min Son-6

Had a first half to forget but then sprung into life and got Chancel Mbemba sent off.  Tried to get his first goal of the season but was unlucky.

Richarlison-9

Scored with a brilliant header to give the Spurs the lead. Repeated the trick for his second goal to put his side truly in command and seal the victory. Man of the match

Harry Kane-6

Created a chance for himself in the first half but his shot was blocked by on-loan Arsenal man Nuno Tavares. He then missed a brilliant opportunity late on in the first half after being played through by Heung-Min Son. Was not his night.

Emerson-5.5

Strong in tackles and relentless in bumping up and down the right hand side all game. Enjoyed a decent outing before being replaced early on in the second half.

Ivan Perisic-7

Started ahead of Sessegnon and didn’t get much joy in the first half.  Improved in the second half and grabbed two assists to help his side to an important victory in the Champions League. So much class when he is on it.

Eric Dier-6.5

Solid for the first half but then picked up a card early in the second half which restricted his full impact in the game. Didn’t put a foot wrong all game.

Cristian Romero-7

An effective day in the office for the Argentine defender who barely put a foot wrong. He is such a main-stay in this Tottenham team and has made the right hand side of the the three man defence his own.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6.5

Solid and efficient as ever without being glassy or dominant. Commanded the midfield and started the Spurs attack especially in the second half when Marseille went a man down.

Clement Lenglet-5.5

Started ahead of Ben Davies and looked really good when with the ball but was hardly tested without before being replaced midway through the second half.

Dejan Kulusevski-6

A second half substitute who came on and immediately changed the game with his direct runs. Was a menace throughout despite playing as a wing-back.

Tanganga- 5.5

The English defender got his first minutes of the season and showed great calmness as Spurs saw out the game and sealed an important first win in the Champions League.

Ben Davies-6

The Welsh man was a second half substitute and kept the backline tight to see out the game. A great servant of the club.

Doherty-6

First minutes of the season for the Irish defender and he would have been happy to have got on the pitch. Impressive first game.

Bissouma-5.5

The Malian got some minutes to build up his fitness but still looks miles away. Needs to get up to speed.
