Tottenham 'ready' to make offer for £18.7m-rated striker with 28 goal contributions
Tottenham are said to be ready to make their move to sign a striker this summer.
Tottenham are said to have a priority run at a striker target this summer, according to a fresh report. Spurs need a striker to add to Thomas Frank’s squad ahead of what will be a challenging season.

Frank will be challenged with improving Tottenham’s Premier League fortunes significantly by turning this team into one that will compete for European qualification, and he will also need to manage a competitive Champions League campaign at the same time.
With injuries having wiped out Tottenham for much of last season, the North London side know they need more quality and depth if they are going to properly compete going forward. New signings will be required in a number of areas, and according to Tutto Juve, there is a striker that has piqued Tottenham’s interest.
Spurs spent big to sign Dominic Solanke last summer, with the Bournemouth frontman chosen as Harry Kane’s replacement, but it seems Frank will want another frontman who offers something different.
The report claims Olympique Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze is attracting interest from Juventus and clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham, who are said to be best positioned to striker a deal. The striker scored 17 and assisted 11 in 47 games last season, and he is still only 24 years of age.
Lyon were relegated to Ligue 2 this week after running into financial issues, although they will appeal the decision. Spurs could take advantage of that situation by trying to sign the striker on the cheap. The report says Tottenham are now ‘ready to make a concrete offer’, as pointed out by SportWitness.
Speaking about his decision to join Lyon last week, Mikautadze said: “I wasn't kept on but I kept on working, I didn't give up. I left as a boy and I'm coming back as a man. I was waiting to see if OL would come. When they did, I spoke to my agents and told them that I wanted to join Olympique Lyonnais because I hadn't finished writing my story here.”
He said of his time at Ajax: “I spent two months in a hotel. I was alone in my room, I was going mad! The club didn’t really help me find an apartment. In the Autumn, I found an Airbnb and all my family came to live with me for a month. I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t speak the language. The conditions weren’t created to allow me to succeed. All players need to feel comfortable in their skin and feel respected in order to perform. I was disappointed.”
Mikautadze has scored a hugely impressive 20 goals in 37 appearances for his nation, Georgie, and he caught the eye at Euro 2024, perhaps aiding his move to Lyon. It’s unclear how much the 24-year-old will cost this summer, but Transfermarkt value him at £18.7million, and it’s likely he will cost more than that. Though, if Lyon lose their appeal, they could find themselves in a very challenging decision given the loss in revenue that will come from being relegated to the second tier.
