Tottenham are reportedly preparing an early summer id for the Chelsea and England star Conor Gallagher, according to latest reports from Football Insider. The news indicates that Spurs will offer an initial bid of between £30-40 million for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Chelsea are in desperate need of raising funds before the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules cut-off date of June 30. Everton and Nottingham Forest have already been handed points deductions with Manchester City being told their hearing date after being charged with 115 breaches.

If the Stamford Bridge club do not sell some of their key assets this transfer window, they too could suffer similar repercussions and Gallagher has been identified as a figure who could well bring in the necessary funds. The midfielder has 12 months left on his contract in West London but with Spurs aware of Chelsea's current financial predicament, Ange Postecoglou's side could well drive a 'hard bargain' and 'low-ball' the Blues in order to get the best price.

Chelsea had been asking for £50m for Gallagher but Spurs are currently unwilling to offer such a high figure. The North London side previously showed interest in the 24-year-old in January and are ready to reignite the interest but with initial figures set to be closer to £30m.

As an academy graduate, the sale of Gallagher would represent pure profit in Chelsea's accounts, thus providing a huge boost to the club's PSR figures. He has been a key playmaker in Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, providing four goals and seven assists in his 38 appearances this 2023/24 campaign.

He has previously spent time on loan at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Brom and Crystal Palace, representing England at five youth levels before going on to represent the senior squad from 2021. He currently has 12 Three Lions caps to his name.

Patrick Vieira, who managed Gallagher during his time at Palace, likened the midfielder to former players Ray Parlour and Frank Lampard while his former Charlton boss, Lee Bowyer, said Gallagher was "an all-round midfielder. His work-rate is unreal, he puts his foot in for tackles and he can also see a pass."
