Tottenham tracking £42.9m Premier League winger as Fabrizio Romano makes 'gonna leave' claim

Tottenham are said to be interested in snapping up a pricey Premier League target this summer as they look to put a miserable campaign behind them. Spurs can still secure Champions League football by winning the Europa League, but their hopes look relatively slim amid inconsistent form that has seen them fall on course for a bottom half finish.
Injuries have played a big part in ruining the campaign, but the lack of depth in the squad has been exposed, and it’s something the club are going to have to fix ahead of next season if they want to compete for the top four.

One area Spurs need to address is the front line, with more competition needed out wide and up top, with Richarlison perhaps likely to leave and Heung-min Son now in the final stretch of his career. One player Tottenham are said to like is AFC Bournemouth frontman Antoine Semenyo, who has been highly productive on the left wing this season, scoring nine and assisting six in 35 games across all competitions for the Cherries.
Fichajes say Tottenham have taken notice of his fine form, claiming they and Manchester United may be willing to part ways with £42.9million to strike a deal. Bournemouth will not want to sell, though, and they are in a position to make big demands given Semenyo’s form and the fact he is under contract until 2029.
Werner factor
Tottenham will free up some cash with the departure of Timo Werner this summer, preparing to send the RB Leipzig forward back to his parent club despite holding an option to buy in the deal.

He’s gonna leave #THFC in June, return to Leipzig and assess new club options, as he’s expected to leave the German side again.”
Werner has struggled for form with Spurs this season, producing just one goal and three assists in 27 games across all competitions. Postecoglou has been critical of the German at times, saying after one game: “He wasn’t playing anywhere near the level he should. When you’ve got 18-year-olds, it’s not acceptable to me and I said that to Timo.
“He’s a senior international, he’s a German international. In the moment we’re in right now, it’s not like we’ve got many kinds of options. I need everyone to at least be going out there trying to give the best of themselves. His performance in the first half wasn’t acceptable.”
Werner is now 29 years of age, and since leaving Leipzig the first time, it feels as though he has failed to fill his potential having put together a fine start to his career, one that landed him a big-money move to Chelsea.
