His side sit 14th in the league, and the relationship between the manager and the fans is becoming to get more and more fractious. Success in the Europa League is what Postecoglou’s job is likely riding on.

Tottenham keep starting defence amid injury struggles

Tottenham’s defence has been leaky this season, however, they have seen a lot of injury problems at the back, which has kept the starting line-up changeable all season long.

They have a pair of strong centre-backs in Van de Ven and Romero, who have both suffered hamstring issues this season. They are not rumoured to replace the pair, but are likely to add depth behind them as Radu Dradgusin remains out until possibly 2026.

Spence has emerged as a top talent at full-back this season, and due to his impressive performances, he is likely to become Tottenham’s first choice at left-back next season.

Pedro Porro had been linked to Real Madrid as a potential alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, it looks all but certain that the Liverpool full-back will make his move to the Bernabeu this summer.

Tottenham add two Ligue 1 stars in midfield

Spurs have a lot of talent in midfield, with the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Pape Matar Sarr impressing under Postecoglou this season.

However, they are not yet at full potential, and so Spurs have been linked with signing more midfield talent this summer to build a solid, dependable, but also creative trio in the middle of the park.

James Maddison keeps his spot in the starting XI, but he has two new partners in the form of Angel Gomes and Rayan Cherki.

Lille FC’s Gomes has been linked to Tottenham in recent weeks after he rejected an approach by rivals West Ham. Gomes is expected to be a free agent in the summer with his contract due to expire.

The midfielder has made 20 appearances for Lille this season in a year that has been plagued by injury. But he has shown in flashes that he can be a top-quality player in Europe’s big leagues.

Furthermore, Lyon attacker Cherki has also been linked with a move to Tottenham as a player who can be a creative outlet in midfield. He’s made 36 appearances this season, scoring nine goals and providing 18 assists. He can play both in midfield and attack, which could be useful for Postecoglou, who likes to play a fluid, attacking brand of football.

Spurs sign £80m Son replacement

Tottenham have to figure out who can be a long-term replacement for Heung-Min Son, as the attacker’s contract is due to expire in 2026, and the opportunity might have presented itself according to recent transfer rumours.

West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus has reportedly emerged as a target for Spurs. He has an £80m release clause, but reports have said that the Hammers could sell him for less in order to cash in on him after what has been a down year for the Ghana international.

Kudus has made 28 appearances for West Ham this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He could be on the move this summer to fund the Hammers’ other transfer business.

Brennan Johnson keeps his place on the other wing after what has been a career year for the former Nottingham Forest star. He’s scored 11 goals in 28 Premier League games for Postecoglou’s side this season.

The two wingers play behind Lille FC striker Jonathan David, who is also due to become a free agent in the summer transfer window due to his contract expiring in June. He has scored 23 goals this season, and has been linked to Spurs, alongside West Ham, Man United and Arsenal.
