Tottenham player ratings vs Newcastle as brilliant Richarlison gets 8/10 and plenty 7/10s in terrific win

Tottenham ended their five-game winless run with a brilliant 4-1 win over Newcastle United.

Richarlison scored a brace and a goal each from Destiny Udogie and captain Son Heung-min gave Tottenham a 4-1 win over Newcastle in the Premier League. Joelinton got the consolation goal for Eddie Howe's team.

The Lilywhites had come into this without a win in their last five outings but this was easy work as Italian left-back Udogie finished off a Son Heung-min pass to give his side the lead early in the first half.

Spurs have been guilty of taking leads in matches but not quite being able to hold on to them, so Richarlison's first of the night made it 2-0 and settled the nerves before his second, Tottenham's third, ultimately confirmed their return to winning ways.

Newcastle are without a dozen players and it was easy to tell they were running on bare bones with the often reliable Kieran Trippier making mistake after mistake due to what can only be put down to fatigue. Captain Son wrapped up the game from the penalty spot with 10 minutes to go before Joelinton got the face-saving goal for the visitors.

The 4-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of the play and reward for Richarlison in particular, who has often looked lost in a Tottenham shirt since he made his £60million move from Everton to north London in 2022. Here, he regained his confidence and was looking forward to a hat-trick before his manager decided he needed a rest.

The win brings an end to a month without one for the Lilywhites and takes them back to fifth on the league table. Below is how we rated the Spurs players out there today.
