Tottenham player ratings vs Burnley: 'Stunning' 8/10 and 'battling' 6/10 in hard-fought Burnley win

Tottenham had to work hard but eventually deserved their 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup.

Pedro Porro's stunning second-half strike secured Tottenham a 1-0 win over Burnley and sealed progression to the next round of the FA Cup. The Lilywhites were made to work hard for the win with Burnley looking good for large parts of the game.

To the surprise of many at the Tottenham stadium in north London, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou named Ryan Sessegnon on the bench for the first time in 10 months having given little away about his fitness during his pre-match press conference.

There was space also for Micky van de ven who injured his hamstring in November and the battling Rodrigo Bentancur was named captain as Son Heung-min is on the other side of the world representing his county in the Asian Cup and both assistants, James Maddison and Cristian Romero still nursing injuries.

Burnley are struggling in the league, and would probably be better focusing on survival- but they gave this a real go, passing the ball with authority when they had it and pressing the life out of the Lilwhites when they did not.

The game looked to be heading for a replay before a moment of true brilliance from the impressive Porro, who snapped the ball from almost halfway line before shooting from almost 30 yards into the top left corner. There was little Arijanet Muric, in post for Burnley could do about it.

Burnley tried to put up an instant response but Spurs backed by the almost 52,000 fans in the stadium saw this out to seal progression and avoid an upset.

Here is how we rated the Spurs players out there.
