Tottenham Second Half Player Ratings: 'Beast' 10/10 and 8 is 'one to watch' v Reading
Thomas Frank fielded a completely new XI in the second half against League One side Reading.
Tottenham Hotspur ensured that they left Reading as winners in their first pre-season friendly of the summer and it was thanks to the second half XI that a 2-0 win was recorded.

Thomas Frank completely changed his side at the break after the goalless first half with Spurs supporters getting a first look at Mohammed Kudus and Luke Vuskovic. Keen to impress, it was those newcomers who stole the show.
The towering centre-back got himself on the scoresheet with the second of the afternoon and it was also the defender who set up Will Lankshear for the first. Here’s how the Tottenham Hotspur players rated in the second half.
Tottenham Hotspur second half player ratings
GK: Guglielmo Vicario, 8
A clean sheet in his 45 minutes but did look less convincing than Kinsky. His work on the ball was particularly rushed at times compared to the second-choice shot-stopper. Made up for that with his saves, jumping well to tip over a Reading shot with 10 minutes left to play and getting down to palm away an injury time shot.
LB: Ben Davies, 7
His defensive maturity was clear to see but, at 32 years old, not surprising to see him beaten for pace by some of the younger Reading players. He’ll continue to be valuable at Spurs this season but unlikely to be a regular in the starting XI.
CB: Micky Van de Ven, 7
Little chance to really show what makes him special against the League One opposition. Was guilty of a foul after a lapse of concentration early on in the half.
CB: Luke Vuskovic, 10
How about that? The giant provided the assist for Lankshear and then scored one himself with a striker’s finish. Some fantastic work defensively too, including a goal-saving block. That’s how you announce yourself. A beast in the making.
RB: Djed Spence, 7
A fairly quiet outing. Showed the signs of a good relationship with Kudus down the right flank and almost found the back of the net himself late on.
CDM: Yves Bissouma, 6
Took him just minutes to throw his body in the way of a Reading shot, never afraid to take one for the team. One mishit pass had him thumping the ground in frustration and rightly so, those get punished in the Premier League.
CDM: Lucas Bergvall, 8
Full of energy and the standout of the central midfield options today. A little overeager at times, giving away a silly free-kick at one point, but showing that enthusiasm in a friendly is a positive.
Mohammed Kudus makes Spurs debut
LW: Son Heung-min, 6
Did not carry the same threat as some of his teammates. There’s talk of a summer exit for the South Korean and it may be time to close this wonderful chapter as the winger looked a little uninterested this afternoon.
RW: Mohammed Kudus, 9
Really exciting run out for the new signing. It was his corner kick delivery that led to the opener and he was a constant threat down the flank. Was mature enough to hold the ball in the box to tee up the Spurs second too. It’s early days, but Kudus looks to be worth that £55 million.
CAM: Jamie Donley, 8
Spent last year in League One but looked at home alongside his Premier League teammates. A buzzing performance and regularly doing the right thing with the ball at his feet. One to watch this pre-season.
ST: William Lankshear, 7
On the scoresheet with that header, but had little to do with Vuskovic rattling it onto his teammate’s head. Didn’t offer the same hounding and threat as Solanke, but that is to be expected.
