Tottenham improved in the second half but were ultimately beaten by a strong Liverpool side.

Tottenham suffered their second consecutive home defeat after a hard-fought 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Mohammed Salah combined with Darwin Nunez to score his 13th goal of the campaign, before benefiting from a gift from Eric Dier to put his side 2-0 up in the first half. Tottenham have grown into a habit of giving themselves work in games and coming back in the second half- but they could not quite turn it around here despite an improved second half performance.

Antonio Conte who had lost Richarlison and Son Heung-min for the game was able to call on Dejan Kulusevski in the second half and the Swedish international made his presence felt after coming on with a brilliant assist for Kane to reduce the deficit. Tottenham then increased the tempo of their play by stretching the game and should have scored but Bentanur missed the ball and ended up in the net instead of the ball. Perisic also hot the post and Alison saved brilliant from him too.

Liverpool came into the game having only picked up two points from their travels in the league- but they held on for their lives and got there in the end thanks to wasteful finishing from Spurs and primarily a slow start to the game from the host.

Kulusevski’s return will give Antonio Conte some fire power up front and Kane finding the back of the net will serve as the positives even though they will feel they should have at least gotten a draw from the game.

Here is how we rated the Chelsea players.
