Tottenham player ratings as Hugo Lloris has his worst game of the season against Manchester United

Tottenham’s top four ambitions took a hit at Old Trafford.

Tottenham’s quest to secure Champions League football suffered a massive setback after suffering a bruising 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for United with Harry Kane and a Harry Maguire own goal completing the scoreline.

The defeat leaves Tottenham desperately in seventh place, while Manchester United jump above Arsenal into fourth even though they have played four games more than the Gunners.

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte came into the game hoping to cut the points between his side and rivals Arsenal, but left Old Trafford scratching his hair and looking for answers to why his team has been consistently inconsistent since he took over last year.

The LillyWhites will now hope to put the defeat behind them and bounce back against Brighton Hove and Albion in midweek before hosting West Ham in a London derby next weekend.

Cristiano Ronaldo - He reminded everyone why he is regarded as one of the greatest goal machines in the history of football.

He scored an absolute worldie early on and then showed his predatory instincts to get the second before grabbing his hat-trick with a powerful header.

Harry Kane - Kept his nerve to score the leveller for his side and was a willing runner for his team throughout the game.

Hugo Lloris - Not much he could do about Ronaldo’s second and third goals but he would feel he let his side down by letting the first one in. That goal almost set the tempo for a five-goal thriller, with United just edging it thanks to Ronaldo’s brilliance.

Harry Maguire - Another weekend to forget for the England international, who diverted a Sergio Reguilon cross into his own net.

The Manchester United skipper has endured a wretched few weeks and will need to up his game if United are to sneak that crucial Champions League spot.
