Tottenham player ratings and gallery: three 9/10s and plenty 7s as Son bags brace in Eintracht Frankfurt win

Harry Kane missed a penalty late on but Son’s brace was enough to help Tottenham to victory in the Champions League.

Tottenham striker Son Heung-min scored a sensational brace to help his side to a hard-earned 3-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Surprisingly it was Frankfurt who started the game brightly and deservedly took the lead after a mistake from Eric Dier, Daichi Kamada pounced to open the scoring for the visitors.

That looked to be the wake up call Spurs needed and six minutes later, Son Heung-min received a well weighted pass from Kane, took a first touch to get it out of his feet before finishing confidently to level it for his side.

Kane then went in search of his first Champions League goal, taking on two men before being bundled over in the penalty box, the referee waved play on, but VAR intervened and rightfully awarded Spurs the call and Kane confidently finished from the spot.

The best goal of the evening came from Son though as he brilliantly volleyed home a clip of a pass from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerb to set the stadium alive.

Frankfurt then had Tuta sent off after he blatantly dragged Son who was through on goal and on his bike for his hat-trick.

There would be more drama as the visitors looked more dangerous with ten men after Tuta’s sending off, substitute Faride Alidou out-jumping the Spurs defence to score a second for his side and set up a nervous ending.

Kane then got a chance to wrap the game up after Bryan Gil was brought down in the penalty box, but the English striker uncharacteristically skied his shot before Lloris produced a save late on to keep the lead intact and secure the win.

Tottenham jump to top of the group with seven points after the win and will qualify to the next round of the Champions League if they avoid defeat against Sporting Lisbon in the next round of games.

Here is how we rated every Tottenham player out there today.
