Tottenham finally returned to winning ways for the first time in a month when they beat Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League over the weekend. Before that, Ange Postecoglou's team had gone five games without a win and a season that began with so much promise was threatening to fade away quickly.

Things are slowly picking up again on the injury front with Pape Matar Sarr returning to the starting line-up over the weekend, his first start since the 2-1 defeat to Wolves before the November international break.

James Maddison who has been ruled out until next year was also in his box at the Tottenham Stadium for the Newcastle game, even though he's not able to contribute to the action of the field.

Micky van de Ven, Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Alfie Whiteman and Ashley Phillips are all not back and will miss the visit to the City Ground for the match against Steve Cooper's struggling Nottingham Forest team.

Spurs boss Postecoglou praised his team for the result against Eddie Howe's side highlighting the difficulty of getting wins with a depleted side. He said after the win last weekend: "Yeah, look I have been struggling with that a little bit all week because we're trying to build something here and part of that is through the tough periods to not allow the lads too much latitude in terms of excuses but the reality is and I have probably been too hard on them in retrospect but we got decimated after the Chelsea game and it is no coincidence that now we are getting some players back that we are starting to look a lot stronger."

Nottingham Forest need a win to put some more distance between themselves and the relegation zone, whereas Tottenham are looking to build up momentum again and possibly get back into the top four.
