Tottenham man enjoying fine Leeds United form as he makes it four goals and four assists in seven games

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s players is enjoying some fine form during his loan spell with Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur forward Manor Solomon scored a goal and provided an assist as Leeds United hammered Watford 4-0 on Tuesday night to boost their hopes of promotion to the Premier League.

Solomon joined the Elland Road club on a season-long loan back in the summer and is currently enjoying his best run of form under Daniel Farke with four goals and four assists in his last seven league games.

The 25-year-old provided an assist on his first Championship outing for Leeds as they beat Hull City 2-0 at the end of August. However, he suffered a hamstring injury that disrupted his first couple of months at the club before returning in mid-October. He had to wait for his ninth game to score his first Championship goals as he netted twice in a dramatic 4-3 win at Swansea City at the end of November. In total, he has seven goals and seven assists in 25 league appearances with Leeds currently top of the Championship.

Solomon’s purple patch

Since providing an assist in a 3-3 draw with Hull City at the start of January, Solomon has only gone one league game without a goal contribution. That came in a 0-0 draw with Burnley at the end of last month. He scored in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday before scoring and assisting against Norwich City. He scored in a 7-0 rout of Cardiff City and found the net at Coventry City before having two goal involvements against Watford.

“They have been incredible in the last few weeks,” Solomon told LUTV of the defensive players at Leeds following the win at Watford. “They help us attacking players to get more chances because they clear the balls and play really good passes for us. They really help us and we try to help them as much as we can in defence. When we score, it's the whole team and when we defend it's the same, we are one unit.”

“We know [counter-attacking] is one of our strengths,” Solomon explained . “We know that after recovering the ball we need to go forward as fast as possible. When Dan has the ball I know he’s super fast, so I need to go as quickly as I can. When I go, Joel, Brenden [Aaronson] and DJ I'll try to look for them. As I said, we are one unit, we enjoy playing together and working together. You can see it on the pitch. We have great momentum and we want to carry on like this.”

Cleverley full of praise for Leeds

After he watched his Watford side lose to Leeds on Tuesday, Hornets boss Tom Cleverley reflected: "We were in the presence of a very strong Championship side, one of the best I've seen at this level. It should give us as staff and players inspiration for the levels we want to get to. I feel all my players have the potential to reach that level but it doesn't just happen. I challenge them to be more intense in the week, more professional, you can always do more. As a player that level would inspire me to do more in my game and my life to try and reach it. Those games won't judge our season.

“Middlesbrough and Luton will be more the level of game our season will be judged. It certainly inspires me to try get my team to those sort of levels. It's a little unfair on some of our players, we're really thin at the minute. We played Saturday and they didn't. It's a very expensive squad they have. It's unfair of me to compare my players to them and judge us against them. We can do better in certain aspects of tonight's performance."
