Tottenham player ratings and gallery: two 6/10s and plenty 4/10s as Hugo Lloris stars in defeat

Tottenham were swept aside at Old Trafford in a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was the star of the Spurs team as he produced five outstanding saves to keep the scoreline respectable in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United took the lead thanks to a Fred shot aided by a Ben Davies deflection early in the second half, there was absolutely nothing the French goalkeeper could do about it.

Tottenham looked shocked and United amplified their dominance shortly after and were rewarded with a second goal, this time, a sublime finish from Bruno Fernandes with an instinctive curler beyond Lloris again.

The two goal lead was no more than United deserved as Tottenham just did not turn up and relied heavily on the excellence of Kane and Son which wasn’t to be today.

In reality the scoreline did not reflect United’s dominance as they recorded 19 shots with the only positive for Spurs being the brilliance of their captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Antonio Conte has insisted on playing a 3-4-3 system but was forced into a 3-5-2 because of the injury to Richarlison, he would change it back to his preferred 3-4-3 with Lucas coming on for Bissouma, but it was too little too late and the horse had bolted already.

Antonio Conte has never won at Old Trafford as a manager and tonight was a perfect opportunity to correct that, but in the end it was United who deserved it and Spurs were forced into their second Premier League defeat of the campaign.

Below is how we rated every Tottenham player out there.
