Tottenham vs Man Utd early injury news as 9 ruled out and 3 doubts

A look at the latest injury news surrounding Tottenham and Manchester United as they prepare to face off in the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham return to action on Thursday night when they face Manchester United at home in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Spurs returned to winning ways and in a big way against Southampton, scoring five first-half goals and winning 5-0 against the struggling Saints on Sunday.

It was a welcome break for an injury-hit Tottenham side that has struggled to find any sort of consistency so far this season. Ahead of Thursday night’s game, we have rounded up all the early injury news surrounding both teams.

Jonny Evans - Doubt

Evans is back in training but Amorim has not yet confirmed his return.

Luke Shaw - Out

Shaw said earlier this month: “Unfortunately, I've had a small setback. I've been through a lot, but this has definitely been my toughest period. I'm absolutely devastated, and it's extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”

Mason Mount - Out

Mount went down and requested a substitution during the City clash. There has been no confirmation of his injury, but this will be tight turnaround for a player who has struggled with injury issues.

Destiny Udogie - Doubt

Udogie was forced off against Southampton. Postecoglou said afterwards: "He's felt something, but he actually wanted to continue, but we just can't take risks at the moment. We're down to the bare minimum. We'll see how he is. He felt a bit tight in his quad ... I don't think it's anything significant at this stage and more precautionary."

Gugliemo Vicario - Out

Vicario is out long-term, with Postecoglou saying: “It's not going to be weeks. It'll be months. With surgery, there are certain timelines. I don't like giving timelines so early in the process, as it puts undue pressure on the player... Once he starts getting [on the training pitch], we'll have a clearer idea.”

Richarlison - Out

Richarlison is out until the new year, with Postecoglou explaining: “Richarlison, hopefully, he'll be back in the New Year but, again, similar to Micky (van de Ven), we've got to be careful every step of the way.”

Rodrigo Bentancur - Out (Suspended)

Bentancur is suspended due to a breach of FA regulations during a media interview.

Mikey Moore - Doubt

Moore remains a doubt, due to return from a battle with illness, though it’s unclear when he will be back. Postecoglou has said: “We’re still taking it slowly with him; it’s still probably a couple of weeks before he’ll be ready to get properly back into it.”

Ben Davies - Out

Davies will miss this one with a hamstring injury, though he could be back before the end of the year.

Wilson Odobert - Out

Odobert is out long term with a thigh injury.

Cristian Romero - Out

Postecoglou says he is not sure of the extent of Romero’s injury, but there is speculation that the defender will miss six weeks.

Postecoglou has said: “It's the same side. Whether it's the same one, we've just got to get clarity on whether it's exactly the same spot or a new spot.”
