A look at some of the likely candidates for the Tottenham job if patience runs out on Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is coming under increasing pressure after a disastrous season so far. Spurs are down in 15th place and closer to the relegation zone that the European spot in terms of points.

Relegation is not yet a serious concern, with the four bottom clubs looking a little cut adrift at this stage, but Spurs are not where they want to be and nowhere close. Injuries have crippled Tottenham’s season, but Postecoglou has not found solutions, and that has seen pressure build on his position.

For now, it seems Daniel Levy will remain patient, with Tottenham looking to add much-needed bodies to their squad, but given how low they are in the table, it cannot be ruled out that Tottenham decide enough is enough if the situation does not improve over the next couple of weeks. With that in mind, we run you through the three current favourites to take over should Postecoglou get the boot.

Edin Terzić

Terzic is the favourite and likely because he does not currently have a job. The 42-year-old left Borussia Dortmund after three years in charge that were separated by a year in between.

During his time in charge of Dortmund, Terzic won the German cup, narrowly missed out on a Bundesliga title at the very death and finished second in the Champions League last season, losing to Real Madrid in the final. Terzic is known for employing a possession-based style of play, often using 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations.

Andoni Iraola

On to the more pricey options, the second option is current AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. Iraola caught the eye with his brave Rayo Vallecano side, and he ultimately arrived in the Premier League. He actually started slowly, but the Cherries have gone from strength-to-strength, and they are now as high as seventh in the table.

Bournemouth are in the thick of the Premier League race, just three points off the top four. Iraola likes a 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2, and his teams usually have a pressing style that is triggered by a chosen midfielder. Naturally, the trouble here would be convincing Iraola to swap a team competing for a European spot for one struggling in the bottom half of the table, and the deal would also cost a significant amount.

Thomas Frank

The same sort of cost would apply here, with Frank under contract at Brentford and a popular figure in West London. Frank is another boss who has worked wonders with relatively limited resources. The Bees are 11th this season despite having dealt with a mountain of injuries, and that particular criteria might make him a point of interest for Spurs.

Brentford had a disappointing season of last, but they have either been in the top-half or just below for the most part. Again, it would be a case of convincing Frank, but you do wonder when he will feel as though he has taken the Bees as far as they can go as interest builds in his services over the coming months.
