Tottenham 'in contact' with £25m player who wants transfer as 'bid likely'

Tottenham are said to be on the lookout for a new striker this summer, and they may have already found their man. Spurs need more competition at the top end of the pitch, with Richarlison regularly being linked with an exit, while Dejan Kulusevski was regularly below par last season.
Juventus star Federico Chiesa has been mooted as a new winger signing, but a new out-and-out striker may also be required. And according to Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou may have already decided on Lille frontman Jonathan David, who has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League over recent years.

Spurs could offer that, and the report claims the North London club are in ‘daily contact’ with the player as they prepare to make a bid for his services.
Chelsea and West Ham have also been linked, but it looks as though Tottenham are the closest to make a concrete bid at this stage. David is out of contract next summer, which means Lille will almst certainly move to sell him this summer. It’s claimed the French club are asking for around £25million.
What David has said
David has spoken pretty openly about his likely departure from Lille this summer. He said during his Copa América campaign with Canada: “There’s always a lot of noise. But I’m still here. I’m still at Lille. From there, we’ll see if I end up going back to Lille for preseason, or if I’m somewhere else, I don’t know.”
“Things are obviously moving slow. I think things are going at the right pace.” He added: “Obviously, I think everyone sees there’s a lot of clubs interested. Right now I’m still waiting for an offer to be put on the table to Lille. Then after, I’ll have to make a choice and make the right choice, whether it’s to leave, or to stay or what team do I pick, really. There’s a lot of different factors that play a part and it’s not easy,” Larin responded before the two moved on to another topic. “But I think that you’ll make the right choice.”

“Again looking at the schedule this year with international commitments, we’re not going to get them all back for the start of pre-season, but if we can get ones in early. It’s easier said than done. Everyone wants to get business done early, everyone is keen to bring players in but the reality is that it takes a little bit of time. The good thing for us is that we know what we need to do, we’ve had the plan in place for a while and it’s just about now going through that process.”
