Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an offer for Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus as they look to beat North London rivals Arsenal to secure the signature of the Brazil striker.

The 25-year-old frontman became a three-time Premier League winner last season as he scored eight goals and provided nine assists as Pep Guardiola’s side came out on top after a thrilling title battle with Liverpool.

However, speculation over a possible departure from the Etihad Stadium has been rife a number of clubs from around Europe said to be monitoring the situation.

Arsenal have reportedly held talks with their Premier League rivals as they look to fill the void left by captain Alexandre Lacazette’s recent departure.

But it is Spurs that have made the first move by submitted an offer of around £40million according to one report in Brazil.

TuttoJuve have suggested Juventus are also interested in the striker and Jesus would be keen to move to Serie A - but Spurs are said to have stolen a march on their competitors with their opening bid.

Jesus gave a small indication of what lies ahead when he spoke about his future after Brazil’s 5-1 friendly win against South Korea.

He said: “I’m fine, calm. Calm, as I always was. Always looking for the best for me, for my career.

“I’ve never been one to throw myself into a project without knowing it. And that’s what I’m going to do. Now I’m focused on the national team, but as of Tuesday I start thinking about my future.”

Jesus’ agent Marcelo Pettinati has also discussed the striker’s future recently.

Speaking last month, he said: “At the moment, we understand all of the projects, so right now isn't the time to say anything. Things will advance after his time with the national team.”

Jesus is expected to leave the Premier League champions after City signed Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland and Argentina international Julian Alvarez.
