Tottenham Hotspur overtake fellow Premier League club in target pursuit with ex-playmaker wanted abroad

Tottenham Hotspur have made a decent start to the new season.

They beat Southampton 4-1 on the opening day and then drew 2-2 away at rivals Chelsea last time out.

Up next for the London club is a home clash against Wolves this weekend.

Midfielder hunt latest

Tottenham have reportedly overtaken Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Ruslan Malinovksyi from Atalanta.

The midfielder, who is a Ukraine international with 49 caps under his belt, has been playing in Serie A since 2019.

According to Italian news outlet Tutto Atalanta, Antonio Conte’s side are trying to lure him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the end of the transfer window.

Southampton in race for target

Southampton are said to be leading the race to sign Spurs-linked James Garner from Manchester United.

The England youth international spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship and helped the Reds gain promotion to the Premier League.

The Manchester Evening News report the Saints are the ‘frontrunners’ for his signature.

New move for Alli?

Former Spurs man Dele Alli could be set for a new move.

The England international is currently on the books at Everton but is now believed to be heading overseas for a new chapter in his career.

He left Tottenham back in January but has struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park.

The Athletic have reported that Turkish giants Besiktas are ‘pushing hard’ to sign him.
